A NEW FRIEND
Thismorning I emailed my friend Todd's daughter A. Her mother in law gave me her email address last night. I was so surprised tonight when the phone rang and it was A. She called to thank me personally for the email. We talked and cried and had a nice visit. She seems like such a sweet young lady. She can't be her mother and father's daughter without being a sweetheart.
I am so glad that she decided to try to call instead of just email me. What a thoughtful young lady.
Thanks.

JAZZ UNLIMITED.....
I just had the priviledge of traveling with my daughters high school choirs to Pasco, WA for a choir music festival held at the Columbia Basin College. We took around 100 students with us.
This is the 3rd year that our high school has competed at this festival.
The choirs competed in classical and Jazz catagories for Jazz Choir, Ac apella choir, and girls choir. Our girls brought home a 1st place award in the classical catagory, and a third in the jazz catarory, the Jazz Choir brought home a second place award in the jazz catagory, then the whole group got what is called the Waldo award! This award is probably the most sought after award of the whole competition. This is the sportsmanship, spirit award. Way to go Eagle High Choirs.
Last Year the girls choir was the only choir to bring home an award, so we were really jazzed about getting four awards this year. I was especially pleased for one senior in particular. I'll just call her J. She and I have become really good friends this year. She is such a sweetheart. J loves choir and always has. She was in the middle school choirs with Em and now is in the high school choirs also. She was so disapointed the first night of the competition that Jazz Choir didn't get an award. Being this was her senior year she wanted them to get an award so bad that she could almost taste it. I couldn't have been happier when our Jazz Choir got the award the second night and J was floating on cloud 9.
We had an unfortunate incident last night that impacted the whole festival. Gonzaga Prep in Spokane. Wa. was there with a conductor from Spokane High, I believe that is the school that he was from anyway. The conductor from Gonzaga had stayed home because he was fighting with cancer, last night around 7pm Pacific time he lost the fight. The kids from Gonzaga were a mess after that. I wanted to put my arms around the bunch of them. Our Choir teacher was telling me later that he was a tremendous teacher and a person with a heart of gold.

FRIENDS
"When I find myself fading, I close my eyes and realize my friends are my energy."
Annonymous
I really liked this quote because it describes me to a T. I get rather lonesome here in the Boise area. We left all of our family and friends back in the eastern side of the state. I have not made a good friend over here. Someone that I could call and say, "Hey lets go out for a pop," or something like that. I have a dear friend here their family moved over here 2 years before we did. It just isn't a situation that we spend any time together. Occasionally we get together on a holiday or birthday but, it isn't a situation where I can call her and just drop everything and go out for a couple of hours.
I do love and appreciate friends and family. When I am feeling sorry for myself or just not feeling 100%. I do think about family and friends and how much I know they love me and I
start feeling better right away. I thank my Heavenly Father every day for the people in my life. I am so grateful for the ability that I have of making friends, and for the love that he put in my heart for others.

WHAT IS LOVE
I thought that this was so sweet.
A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to
8 year-olds, "What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader
and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you
think..............
"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint
her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even
when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."
Rebecca- age 8
When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You
just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
Billy - age 4
"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne
and they go out and smell each other."
Karl - age 5
"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French
fries without making them give you any of theirs."
Chrissy -age 6
"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."
Terri - age 4
"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip
before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."
Danny - age 7
"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of
kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy
are like that. They look gross when they kiss"
Emily - age 8
"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening
presents and listen."
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)
"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend
who you hate,"
Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)
"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it
everyday."
Noelle - age 7
"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still
friends even after they know each other so well."
Tommy - age 6
"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked
atall the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was
the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore."
Cindy - age 8
"My mommy loves me more than anybody . You don't see anyone else
kissing me to sleep at night."
Clare - age 6
"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken."
Elaine-age 5
"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is
handsomer than Robert Redford."
Chris - age 7
"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone
all day."
Mary Ann - age 4
"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old
clothes and has to go out and buy new ones."
Lauren - age 4
"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little
stars come out of you." (what an imagination)
Karen - age 7
"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you
mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."
Jessica - age 8
And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked
about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to
find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next
door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.
Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's
yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked
what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I
just helped him cry"
Love Ya

STILL WORKING..........
On the bedroom. It looks better than it has for a very long time. I rearranged the bed, bedside tables, desk and a dresser. Next I need to try to find some room in the shed for some plastic storage boxes. My poor shed is just about stuffed! Once I get those out of here, there are only a few things left to try to find a place for then we can start building a closet in this room. We have not had a closet in here the whole time that we have used this room as a bedroom. I have put away some money so that we can do that this spring or summer.

TIME FOR SPRING CLEANING
You should see my bedroom right now. It's worse than usual. I decided to finally tackle the job that has needed to be done since we moved into this house. When we moved into this house
things were really hectic!!!!!! We just had to throw boxes into this room and and let it go. I have just kept looking at all this stuff and it seemed totally overwhelming to me to try to tackle this
mess. It might take me a week of doing this a little at a time but I have made some real headway
in just the last two days.
I have done something to my wrist in the process. This might slow me down for a few days.
It feels as if it needs to pop but it just won't. It is slightly swollen and I can't put any pressure on it or it hurts really bad.
I just found this quote online. I feel like it is something that my kids need to think about and realize that things don't have to be perfect. Life isn't perfect, we just need to find the lessons in the nonperfection around us that our Heavenly Father wants us to learn. Adversity and non perfection helps us to become stronger and better people.
"A house does not have to be perfect to be a home of joy, a child does not have to behave perfectly to love and be loved, and every moment of life does not have to be perfect to be of value. Too often, I realize, we fail to see the glorious reality of the simple joy that abounds in the seemingly mundane routine of day-to-day living. Instead, we tend to idolize the past, idealize the future, and devalue the present.... What better way to show our appreciation to Heavenly Father for what we have than to embrace our lives, albeit 'ordinary' and 'unexciting,' with joy?"
--Winnie Dalley; Ensign, March 1998, page 59
